Yours is a super idea. I do have a couple printers, which I know can be repaired and used
by others.After you have refitted the items do you have some,maybe a surplus that you retail
to enable you to recover some of your expenses.I live in Sandy Cove acres(Innisfil) and every other friday there is a pick up of “BIG” items not taken by garbage. I have seen a loy of electronic equipment, over the years. Maybe a flyer should be on the notice board here.

Good point Russell - we have so much local talent such as your company for resource recovery and Thriftopia for reuse that there really is no excuse to ship this stuff overseas.

I work for a local eWaste management (Recycle) facility located right in Barrie. It has to be more cost effective to take care of it all right here in town rather than shipping it to Toronto.

I have recieved a lengthy reply from someone by the name of shu chun pao. Is he for real or is this just a massive scam? I know I don’t believe him but should I respond? If not, then why doesn’t someone do something about this sort of thing? What does this person aim to get out of it? I am not being naive but someone out there might just be fooled in to something awful. Please somebody check this out.

There’s another thought about who should pay for e-waste disposal & recycling - and that is we have already paid for it!

8% sales tax is charged on the sale of virtually everything in Ontario… aren’t taxes supposed to pay for things like recycling?

It’s truly sickening how much e-waste is out there, and I found that one great way to combat this problem is look for help through a greener PC company called Userful. What’s great about them is they actually re-use a single existing PC to power upto 10 workstations at once saving energy and reducing e-waste. I represent ENJO Canada, who offers chemical-free cleaning cloths. We have a great one for windows and one that’s great on any type of lens material. (I flew in on Air Canada last night and cleaned the inside airplane window and the personal movie screen with one and it did a great job! - no chemicals).
I would love it if you could recommend me to anyone who is looking for a chemical-free way to clean their equipment or if you have anyone interested in just getting rid of the chemicals in their homes and offices.

In retrospect, I have some degree of regret that I wasn’t able to provide commentary of experiences during my employment with the business thus far - but as my dialogue problems have always been unpredictable, I felt the risk may have proven great if I were to be interviewed for TV. Thanks for this post! It’s unfortunate that as business owners are getting more conscientious about saving money and also doing things to work to make environmental issues better more problems continue to crop up with security. Especially as more options open up for saving money when buying computers (more places to buy rebuilt, recycled computers, etc.), all business owners need to carefully research major technology purchases and rely heavily on their computer consulting professionals to help them. It’s good to see that there are some programs supporting unique issues that computer consultants and others face when managing their clients’ unique and complicated problems!

When it comes down to it, we’re not too different from what is percieved as “normal”. I don’t think there is a single person out there who can truly define what “normal” is.

We’re just in a different boat and the speed it reaches may not be as fast and the acceleration takes a while - but that doesn’t mean we’re not in the race, reaching the goal. Which, in my humble opinion is going to happen with this company and soon.

What’s the point in being uptight about buying used clothing? Although I think upgrading technology makes a lot of sense from a power-consumption standpoint, I also believe that re-using as much as possible makes a ton of sense too!
